Sea freight from Miami to Panama

For what is not worth flying: furniture, appliances, household moves and inventory. $12.00 per cubic foot, from 6 ft³, using the same locker you already have.

When the ship is the right call

Air cargo is charged by what it weighs; sea freight by what it takes up. That is the whole difference, and it is what decides which one works out cheaper for you.

The short version: at $2.65 per pound against $12.00 per cubic foot, the ship wins once the cargo weighs more than 4.5 pounds per cubic foot. A 35 lb microwave in 4 ft³ is $92.75 by air against $72.00 by sea. If it is bulky but light, the air route is usually better: not everything large belongs on a ship, and we would rather tell you beforehand than after.

So sea freight is the route for the heavy, the bulky and the unhurried: furniture, appliances, household moves, inventory. For a one-off online order the air route is almost always right — see the per-pound rates and work out yours. Have an oddly-sized box and are not sure which suits it? Send us the dimensions and we will tell you.

Examples by volume

Reference points for what people most often ship by sea, so you can get a feel for it without measuring. The totals come from the same formula we apply at the warehouse.

What it isVolumeBillable volumeShipping price
Microwave4.0 ft³6 ft³$72.00
A boxed bicycle11.0 ft³11 ft³$132.00

Fridge30.0 ft³30 ft³$360.00

Look at the microwave: it measures 4 cubic feet, but the 6 ft³ minimum takes it to $72.00. Below the minimum, sending more volume costs no more — it pays to combine.

What travels by sea

  • Furniture and décor — living-room sets, dining sets, beds, mattresses, rugs.
  • Appliances — fridges, washers, dryers, cookers.
  • Household moves — the contents of a whole house or apartment.
  • Inventory and supplies — goods for resale, materials, packaging.
  • Bulky spare parts — tyres, bumpers, body panels.
  • Large equipment — bicycles, home gyms, workshop tools.

How it is charged: $12.00 per cubic foot

We measure the box’s length × width × height as it arrives and convert it to cubic feet. Fractions round up to the whole unit, exactly as pounds do on the air route.

A shipment has a minimum of 6 cubic feet, that is $72.00. You can send less volume, but you do not pay less than that: it is what the consolidator charges for the space reserved in the container, filled or not. Above 6 ft³ you pay for what you actually measure.

Your sea address: add OCEAN

You do not need another account or another locker. You use the same Miami address, changing one single thing — and it is the most important thing on this page.

AIR

TULOGY - JUAN PÉREZ

Your name exactly as you registered it. Charged by the pound.

SEA

TULOGY OCEAN - JUAN PÉREZ

The word OCEAN goes after TULOGY, before the dash. The rest of the address does not change. Charged by the cubic foot.

Save it at the store as a separate address from the air one: that way you choose which to use at checkout. Your full address, with your name already assigned, is in the app as soon as you create your account — here is how the locker works.

Timings

3 to 5 weeks from when the cargo reaches our Miami warehouse. The ship sails on a fixed schedule, so anything arriving just after a departure waits for the next one. Like all international cargo, it can add days if customs inspects it.

If you have a deadline, write to us before you buy and we will tell you which sailing it makes.

Is it a household move or commercial cargo?

A full container, a house move or recurring inventory are not quoted off a list price. Message us on WhatsApp at +507 6301-6042 or write to envios@tulogypty.com with rough measurements and we will put a quote together for you.

Frequently asked questions about sea freight

What does sea freight from Miami to Panama cost?

$12.00 per cubic foot, with a 6 cubic foot minimum per shipment. That minimum is the consolidator’s entry cost, not ours: a container charges for the space you reserve, filled or not.

In practice it means the smallest possible sea shipment costs $72.00, even if you send two cubic feet. That is why sea suits you once you have volume to move, not for a single purchase.

How is a cubic foot measured?

Length × width × height in inches, divided by 1,728. A 24" × 18" × 16" box is 4 cubic feet.

We measure the box as it arrives, packaging included. As with air weight, fractions round up to the whole unit: 6.3 ft³ is billed as 7.

What address do I use to ship by sea?

The same Miami address you already have. The only thing that changes is the recipient name: write OCEAN straight after TULOGY.

That word is what tells us, when the box reaches the warehouse, that this cargo travels by sea and not by air. Without it, it joins the air route and is charged by the pound.

How long does it take?

Count 3 to 5 weeks from when the cargo is in our Miami warehouse. The ship sails on a fixed schedule, so anything arriving just after a departure waits for the next one.

If you have a deadline, write to us before you buy and we will tell you which sailing it makes.

Can I mix air and sea cargo?

Yes, and it is the normal thing to do. They are two different addresses for the same locker: save both at the store and choose which to use depending on what you are buying.

Small and urgent by air, bulky by sea. Each shipment is quoted in its own unit and you see them separately in the app.

What cannot travel by sea?

The same restrictions as air cargo — weapons, flammable liquids, aerosols, chemicals, loose lithium batteries, perishables and controlled medication — and it is worth confirming anything with a motor or fuel with us before buying it.

Like all international cargo, sea freight can be inspected or held at customs, which adds days to transit. If you are unsure about an item, ask us before paying for it.
